Since 1991, Valerie Harris Adler has exclusively represented injured victims in personal injury lawsuits in trial courts and appellate courts throughout Illinois.  Over the decades, her practice has included individual cases, class action cases, and multidistrict litigation. Valerie has a special interest in protecting victims of medical and dental malpractice, workers in the construction and trucking industries, and families who have lost a loved one due to negligence. Valerie is proud of her track record in the Appellate Courts, where she has overturned verdicts or judicial rulings that went against her clients and then battled on to obtain the compensation her clients deserved.

Prior to 1991, Valerie represented defendants in major liability cases, including doctor and hospital malpractice, product liability, wrongful death actions, and worksite accidents.  That experience gives her an inside understanding of the defendants’ strategic approach to major liability cases – and their tactics to try to limit her clients’ monetary recovery.

Valerie believes that every person and organization sometimes needs and always deserves legal advice and support whether or not they can afford it.  That’s why she supports pro-bono volunteer legal initiatives and community advocacy. She has volunteered her time and knowledge to her local school districts and various community initiatives, including school funding referendums and the creation of a not-for-profit educational foundation for pre-school to 8th grade public school students in her community. Since 2008, Valerie has volunteered and trained to provide legal services protecting vulnerable citizens’ rights to vote during elections in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin.

Valerie loves the great outdoors and practices mindfulness to balance the fighting spirit that’s so important to her work life.  She usually “powers down” by planting and weeding in the garden, hiking and bicycling in the forest preserves, and taking her weekly yoga class.
